AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM EUREKA PRIZE FOR SCIENCE PHOTOGRAPHY - Entries are now open - The New Scientist Eureka Prize for Science Photography is awarded to an Australian/s over the age of 17 for a single photograph taken in the past 2 years that most effectively communicates an aspect of science. Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge - Call for Entries - Entries for 2008 are being solicited now. We urge all researchers and science communicators to participate in this unique and inspiring competition. The 2008 International Science & Engineering Visualization Challenge is co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the journal Science, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) see the website http://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/scivis/index.jsp.
Awards categories include: Photographs/Pictures, Illustrations/Drawings, Informational/Explanatory Graphics, Interactive Media, and Non-Interactive Media.
Winning entries will be published in a special section of the September 26, 2008 issue of the journal Science and Science Online and on NSF's website. One winning entry will appear on the front cover of Science.

2008 AIPP Canon APPA’s entries open online on 14th April 2008 - Of interest to AIMBI members is the The 2008 AIPP Australian Science Environment & Nature Photographer of the Year.
Entry rules and information are now available on Australian Institute of Professional Photographer’s website www.aipp.com.au . Entries close at 4.30pm, Friday 23rd May 2008.

Adobe has announced the launch of a public beta for the online photo storage and manipulation tool called Adobe Photoshop Express. Be aware though there are some issues with the Terms and Conditions that have cause much online debate & concern that it would be best to wait until the issues are sorted out before uploading your prize shots. Adobe Product Training Seminars - Adobe have a number of free online seminars on offer, some are live (look for eSeminar) and also pre-recorded seminars (look for OnDemand eSeminars). Adobe has pulled the Lightroom 1.4 updaters from its website after several RAW file handling bugs were found, says Adobe's Tom Hogarty. While Camera Raw 4.4 is affected as well, the plug-in downloads have not been removed at this time. See more details here at
