Objectives of the Institute Promote education in the biomedical media both for practitioners and clients; by workshops, short courses, validating accredited courses, educate the medical profession about what we do and about the visual media, encourage continuing professional education, establish and maintain a system of professional qualifications for biolmedical illustrators. Promote the free exchange of professional information; by organising conferences, a regular program of meetings in each state, a professional journal and newsletters. Act as an advisory body relating to all pertaining to biomedical illustration. Recognise distinguished ability and contribution to the field of biomedical illustration - Registered Biomedical Illustrator, Associateship and Fellowship programs. Foster international links between biomedical illustrators with exchange schemes, journals, international conferences. Establish and promote ethical conduct amongst members. Recommend minimum qualifications for employment. Adopt a role of industrial relations advocacy.
