Employment of Medical Illustrators across Australia

Call for input to National Council Sub Committee Review

National Council has established a sub-committee to look at the issue of employment for medical illustrators across Australia to get a clear picture of things like: levels, qualifications, available training, restrictions to employment, comparisons from state to state, and then offer recommendations to government employing bodies for equality across the country.

The following people are involved as members of the sub-committee for Professional Registration: Richard Smallwood (chair), Amanda Rebbechi (Vic), Chris Barry (WA), Mimi Kersting (QLD), John Baird (NSW), Lisa Breayley (Vic), Angela Chappell (SA).

Below are some reasons why we are working towards registration for our profession. The following explains why the sub-committee is seeking data from this survey (Click here for a copy of the survey)

For our profession to survive and prosper, we must act on a united front. If we want to be taken seriously as a profession and have influence within hospitals, then we need to encourage every medical photographer & illustrator to support our application for professional registration.

Professional registration has the potential to ensure we are properly trained, maintain our knowledge & skills in an ever changing environment and improve patient safety."

Below are the  contact details for the Professional Registration Chair if you would like any additional information.
